63. Attack of the Crab Monsters (1957) [70 minutes]
I sat down to watch this movie because I didn’t feel like reading a book. Why are you making me read, movie? Why? Giant (telepathically?) speaking ‘ghost’ crabs. “Shockingly” abrupt ending.

64. The Night the World Exploded (1957) [64 minutes]
Starts with narration. Never a good sign. Observation: a lot of these movies feature caves. Element 112 is the villain/monster in this flick. What is that globe made out of? I really want to know. Oh, and the rocks are made out of Styrofoam. You can clearly hear it. Boring disaster movie – not horror or sci-fi.

65. The Twonky (1953) [60 minutes]
Boom, narration. Immediately strikes me as a Dr. Seuss story blended with an episode of the Twilight Zone. Guy drinks coffee to calm his nerves. Priceless! I don’t get it … was it all just a dream or something?

66. Gog (1954) [82 minutes]
Filmed in color. About halfway through and I’m still not sure what’s going on. Oh, it was hackers. Lol. Actually wished this one ended more abruptly.

67. 20 Million Miles to Earth (1957) [70 minutes]
Gorgeous effects by Ray Harryhausen and lots of well-done rear projection. Kind of flew by. Not bad, but goes out on such a stupid line. I feel bad for the “creature”.

68. Riders to the Stars (1954) [77 minutes]
Filmed in color. Opening song is annoying and already has me regretting my decision. Transitions from the horrible song right into horrible narration. Boring flick with no monsters or aliens or anything. Not even a ‘voyage to the moon’ film.

69. War of the Colossal Beast (1958) [60 minutes]
This is a sequel to The Amazing Colossal Man (1957) and the entire plot of that film is shown in a long flashback. (It was not marketed as a direct sequel and featured a different cast.) Colossal Man does not speak in this movie, he only groans… and groans… For some strange reason, his demise was shot in color.

70. The Unknown Terror (1957) [64 minutes]
Supernatural tale that, naturally, takes place in a cave. Also, isn’t really supernatural. Love triangle (times 2) goes unresolved.

71. From Hell It Came (1957) [64 minutes]
Pretty American for a remote tribe. The creature is just ripe for riffing. Horrible costume for 1957, but silent.

72. The 27th Day (1957) [66 minutes]
Weird social experiment with an abrupt ending. Not the usual fare, but still actually quite bad.

02

73. Creature with the Atom Brain (1955) [58 minutes]
Remote controlled atomic corpses used as vessels of revenge. It is what it is, not necessarily good or bad.

74. The Undead (1957) [72 minutes]
Opens with a monologue from a guy dressed as the devil. Well, this is the first hypnotic regression story I’ve seen. Horribly acted, despite the hotties. (Villain chick, Allison Hayes, is the chick from Attack of the 50 foot Woman, one year prior.) Turns into the Matrix/Inception and ends on a twist/double-cross. Honestly, it went from bad to tolerable and ultimately not all that bad.

75. Zombies of Mora Tau (1957) [80 minutes]
Movie starts by quoting another movie (The Walking Dead, 1936). Allison Hayes appears in a supporting role. Cursed treasure story. I kept waiting for Scooby and the gang to show up. Ends on the coolest end card I’ve seen so far. Also, it is an early zombie movie.

76. Mesa of Lost Women (1953) [57 minutes]
Sloppy example of how not to tell a story. Disjointed and convoluted. The entire score is one not-so-good Spanish-style guitar. Shoehorned romance crap for no good reason. In the running for worst overall.

77. I Was A Teenage Werewolf (1957) [76 minutes]
Teen with anger issues (Michael Landon), reluctantly seeks assistance from a doctor (aka mad scientist) who reverts him to his “primitive form” in order to “save mankind”. This is like the 3rd or 4th flick in a row that has had a choreographed song and dance number. No full moon, no silver bullets, and overall kind of tragic.

78. Blood of Dracula (1957) [69 minutes]
It is one of two follow-up films to AIP's box office hit "I Was a Teenage Werewolf" (1957) …A gender swapped remake of "...Werewolf". Should have been named  "I Was A Teenage Vampire" . Weak-ass rock number. Crappy, yet again tragic.

79. I Was a Teenage Frankenstein (1958) [73 minutes]
Plot parallels "...Teenage Werewolf" (1957), but more twisted for sure. I’d venture to say better than "...Werewolf", but that isn’t saying much. Monster’s demise and ending shot in color.

02

80. How to Make a Monster (1958) [73 minutes]
The film is a meta follow-up to both "I Was a Teenage Werewolf" (1957) and "I Was a Teenage Frankenstein" (1958). Like "...Teenage Frankenstein", switched to color for the final moments. Interestingly weird take on the genre. Worth a watch, I suppose.

81. She Demons (1958) [77 minutes]
Wow, Nazis. I did not see that coming. Unfortunately still run of the mill. Ending kind of drags on (for a change). Not a good thing here.

01
02

82. The Deadly Mantis (1957) [78 minutes]
Opens with 6 minutes of narration/exposition. What do you expect from a giant insect movie? Some cool shots, but most are poor. Mantis has an epic death.

01
02

83. The Monolith Monsters (1957) [64 minutes]
Second ‘Universal – International’ movie in a row. This one also starts with narration/exposition, and tons of plot conveniences. The story of a meteorite that grows when it gets wet. No, really, that’s it. Very boring movie.

01
02

84. The Angry Red Planet (1959) [70 minutes]
Shot in color. On Mars, everything is red. Although some really cool creatures are used, the red filter is headache-inducing and blinding. Really unfortunate. Could have been enjoyable otherwise.

01
02

85. Two Lost Worlds (1950) [51 minutes]
So slow to start. Weird western/pirate film turns into a castaway flick about 2/3 in. The last third is a volcano erupting. Bad, but bad for less than an hour.

01
02

86. Red Planet Mars (1952) [87 minutes]
What should have been the ultimate ‘catfish’ film is actually a Christian propaganda piece. Fucking horrible.

01
02

87. Frankenstein's Daughter (1958) [85 minutes]
Grandson of Dr. Frankenstein creates a Mr. Hyde-type creature, as well as a Frankenstein’s monster. Police have the aim of Stormtroopers. Horribly paced and pretty wooden acting.

01
02

88. Untamed Women (1952) [70 minutes]
15 minutes in and it feels like I’m re-watching "She Demons" (1958). Is that one a remake of this? Lost civilization/lost world/castaway film that lifts the ending from "Two Lost Worlds" (1951) – and in a few cases,  unused/extended shots as well. Volcanic eruption is as long, if not longer.

01
02

89. War of the Satellites (1958) [65 minutes]
Very not good alien possession story that overall makes no sense.

01
02

90. Bride of the Gorilla (1951) [65 minutes]
With Lon Chaney, Jr. It was all in his head. A very weak entry, indeed.

91. Monster from the Ocean Floor (1954) [64 minutes]
Pretty sure all the dialogue was re-recorded. Laughably bad. Entire lines clearly recorded by someone else. Julie has some serious resting bitch face. The romance in this flick is also a joke. This film hurts to watch. It just keeps getting worse. In the top 3 of worst. So stupid.

01
02

92. Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow (1959) [70 minutes]
I decided to watch this one because it sounded bad by title alone. THIS is the Scooby Doo movie I was looking for. Fatally overdoses on rock numbers. Inappropriately sexual. I kept thinking, “There’s no way 50’s teens really used all this jargon” As with the last one, it truly just keeps getting worse, with the flat jokes and skit-like routines. One plot point is discarded entirely, the 2nd is just embarrassingly rushed, and the twist 3rd ending provides minimal resolve.

02

93. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) [67 minutes]
Another film told through a flashback. However, this one has a decent premise, decent acting, decent cinematography, and no filler or fluff. Disappointing that it ends with NO CLOSURE WHATSOEVER! I half expected it to say “to be continued…” I could have accepted that.
